Job Description

Primary care for infant/toddler boy in a partially staffed home. I started with the family as an evening/weekend nanny just after they lost their home in the 2025 Palisades fire. In June of 2026, I took on the role of FT weekday nanny. Kiddo started preschool in August, and I have been providing morning help to get him and Mom out the door, assisting with some household management duties such as coordinating with cleaners, maintenance, and deliveries until my afternoon nanny responsibilities resume. In my role as nanny, I plan developmentally appropriate activities, drive to/from music classes, MyGym, and the park for early socialization and playdates. Assisting with language development through age-appropriate conversation, narrating, reading, songs, and sign language. Providing clear communication with parents to keep consistency and progression in achieving his developmental milestones. Occasional driving for older children, but my primary responsibility is for the toddler.

Reasons for Leaving

Families' needs have changed due to full-time preschool enrollment.

Job Description

Primary care for a toddler boy. Planning fun, safe and developmentally appropriate activities, driving to/from activities, parks, and medical appointments, cooking/cleaning up for children’s meals, organizing and keeping tidy in the childs room and play area. Kiddo was not walking or talking when I started so I helped coordinate with the regional center and attended, PT, speech and Infant Stim therapies with the child. Clear communication with parents to keep consistency for the little one. At the time I left, kiddo had caught up and was hitting all his developmental milestones, was excelling in language development and even learning some spanish and sign language!

Reasons for Leaving

After extending my original 9-month contract once, I chose not to extend it again due to extensive travel time to and from Calabasas and the West Side. After a couple of unfortunate experiences overhearing extreme racialized language in the home, I decided it was no longer worth my time and energy to work with this family. I did not disclose this to the family as my reason for leaving but did speak up at the time of both incidents.
